Chrome windows not being recognised after new update (26.0)

Hi team,

Since installing OBS 26.0, my sources that use the Chrome browser don't pop up on stream when enabled. I now have to manually change the windows everytime I start a new stream. It used to just automatically pick them up even if the tab was different etc.

Capture Method: Automatic
Window Match P: "Match title, otherwise find window of same type"

Pretty annoying as I use a lot of sources that use my browser and sometimes you need to be quick if you're using a stream deck.

Appreciate the help in advance :)

Thank you!! I joined the forum just now so I could chime in on this.

I'm having this very frustrating problem where if you change even the tab you're looking at, it won't show the window (in the scene) at all after the transition! (even if it showed it correctly in the preview). (and you have to jump into the settings to pick the right tab!) this was very embarrassing about an hour ago during a live meeting / stream!)

AND... even when it's "working correctly" it shows nothing (but my bkgd) for a split-second before showing the window.

both behaviors are very frustrating.
and it doesn't seem to matter whether you choose "window of same type" or "executable" .. neither seems to help.

as a work around... you can use the display capture and embedded scenes with cropping to acheive the same effect (with no content flicker)

...BUT i *really LIKE* the ability to just show a window, and still be able to have my other windows open on top of it. which you obviously cannot do with the display capture.

so, this is a recent version 26 problem? because i don't remember this happening in the previous version i was using. hoping this can be corrected soon.

(PS ... LOVE the virtual camera feature!!)

AND ... I just want to add... it also can't find it if you click to a different page on the same website!! (because the title is different)
...that's super frustrating!

UPDATE: I've discovered this same problem of "flash of missing content" when using the Window Capture on a PowerPoint slideshow. I can't believe i'm not finding more posts about this... perhaps i have something set up incorrectly / differently ?
again - it does NOT happen when using a "display capture / full screen" but it does happen when using a window capture on a chrome browser, and PPT slideshow.
hoping someone has some answers! or it's fixed in an upcoming update. (it didn't happen in previous versions, to my knowledge.)

I would also love to find a solution to this. It was working for me in mid 2020, but some update has broken it. Everytime I want to share chrome I need to re-select the window.

Thank you. Me too. This is happening daily... I have to reselect the window every single time i change it. even if you change the tab, it won't find it again.

I am also continuing to search for this issue --
Why when using the window capture, and i transition to the new scene, the window capture is missing for about two seconds. then it flashes into place.
(it does not do this with display capture, but i really want to use the window capture to only share one browser window at a time.)

again -- it did not do this previously. only since new update. and i can even be looking at the right window loaded in the right place in studio mode, but when you transition... either it does the flash of missing then appears, or (as stated above) it's gone completely if you've changed the tab.

very frustrating. i'm surprised i can't find anyone else asking about this. thank you for chiming in!

I'm fairly new to OBS and I'm experiencing this problem. I was amazed that something as fully featured as OBS didn't have the functionality for it to just jump to a different tab/window if the one that was originally specified was no longer there.

Like the OP, rather than the scene grabbing whatever is showing on Google Chrome on my desktop, I have to go back into properties and select the exact tab/window. It doesn't matter which of the 'Match Title' dropdown options I choose. I still have to go in manually and select.

Now that I can see that OBS used to indeed have that functionality, it is frustrating that it has somehow been broken :(
