Question / Help Choppy Preformance

Hi,

Game is running silky smooth without OBS broadcasting, but when i turn the broadcast on it starts to get small jitters in-game. It gets a bit choppy.

PC:
i5 2500k @ 4.2
8GB RAM DDR3 PC12800
Asus P8Z68V
Ati 6870HD


I am streaming several games on 720p @ 60fps. No issues, but with FIFA 14 it gets choppy

The stream seems to be performing fine, more or less. Having decreased performance in-game is to be expected when live-encoding video at the same time. This is why people get dedicated streaming PCs.

Try decreasing to 30fps and see if that helps with the jittering at all.

Guys i'm really having a hard time accepting this issue. I see people with lesser PC's stream this quality with no ingame stutter or fps drop. OBS is telling me im losing 0 frames and my bitrate is always steady and green.

What is the issue here?

Gonna guess your GPU is the "cuplrit". Your game and OBS are likely competing for GPU time. Turn on vsync or cap your FPS in some other way, and maybe start lowering in game settings to reduce GPU load.

Recently found out my issue, the lag/stutter is being caused by my webcam. When i disable it, the stutter / jitter is gone.
I have a Logitech C920 HD Webcam, using it on 720p on 30fps i420 Filter.

Any ideas?

Try lowering the resolution of the webcam and/or changing the output format to MJPG.
