Hello,

I've recently started streaming and I can't help but notice a lot of lag and choppiness in my stream and I am wondering what the issue is?

My PC Specs are:

Intel® Core™ Processor i5-6600K
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini 3GB
Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB 1866MHz
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA
III Internal SSD
SeaSonic 750W Power Supply X750 Gold
Thermaltake Core V1 Mini ITX Cube Gaming Computer Case

My OBS settings are:
Server: US East: Atlanta, GA
Encoder: x264
Enforcing streaming server encoder settings
Rate Control is CBR
Bitrate is at 2000
Keyframe Interval set to 2
CPU usage Preset set to fast
Tune set to animation

In Video settings:
Base resolution: 1920x1080
Output (Scaled) resolution: 1280x720
Downscale Filter: Bilinear
Common FPS Value: 30

hmmm, what is running as the display capture ?

If your trying to run a game, or something, that exceeds the framerate limit of your monitor (60fps?), then you will get chopiness, in display capture mode. as that is 60fps is the limit, that OBS studio can handle, you can change the settings, from 60fps, to 120fps, its not recommended tho.

Either that, or your cpu, is throttling it. i5 cpus, arent the reommended ones to use for streaming. as they choke the framerate, when at 100% usage.

CPU upgrade advisable, i went from an i5-4670k, to an i7-4790k, & what a huge difference it made, streaming pc games.

Thank you for your response. My display capture is Display 0: 1920x1080 @ 0,0 which captures my entire screen. I am attempting to stream League of Legends, which is a pretty fast paced game. I plan on upgrading to an i7 when I have a little more money saved. Do you have any recommendations for now?
