Ok, so im using an Xbox 360 with the Hauppauge and OBS... From the xbox are Monster component cables and running in 720p to the Hauppauge and then more Monster cables to the TV. Now, when in OBS, it recognizes everything fine, and will display everything smooth as can be, but when I click Start Stream, it will be fine for about 20 seconds and then will get very choppy on twitch AND on the OBS preview of the stream. I have 60 down 5 up internet and even when streaming battlefield 4, I still only have a 107ms ping with 0% packet loss and I still get 50 down and 4.42 up. I don't think its internet related. its either my laptop (don't laugh lol) or a setting I altered int he program itself. here is what it is all set at
Video bitrate 2100
audio bitrate 80 (I turned it down, thinking it would help)
audio sample rate 44.1 (I turned it down too
Renderer is Direct3D 11
base resolution is 1366x768
output res is 780x480 (again, I turned it down)
downscale filter is bicubic
common FPS is 29.97
aero disabled
audio buffering time is 700 (turned down)
color format is NV12
YUV color space 601
YUV color range Partial
stream delay is off

For the device properties (I have changed all these too to no avail)
Res/FPS Type is default
res is 720x480
FPS 59.94 NTSC
video format is ANY
YUV color space is default
YUV color range is full
buffering is on auto-detect
audio output mode is capture audio only

If someone can tell me how to actually create a log file (im talking step by step, im only good with some things on a computer), I can upload it if need be.

Also, when streaming, I drop 0 frame, not a single one according to OBS (that's over a 3 hour stream with it being choppy on the OBS preview) and my CPU is never above 40%

Ahh, found it! im not sure if its what you need, I uninstalled and then reinstalled and tried it with all settings untouched. it still got choppy. so, its still doing it, even on that log, I guess. I have no idea how to read much of that file tho. any and all info is greatly appreciated.

The problem is caused by your system's processor. In spite of it never going above 40% usage, it's still extremely weak.

Forgive my noob-ness, but, will adding more memory help or make no difference at all?

Also, I can record just fine and I'll be smooth and in great quality.

Also also, are there any settings I can change to make it less choppy?
