Question / Help Choppy Audio in Recording

I'm trying to record some game footage for a school project, but the audio is really choppy. Example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo8YfJ821pc This has happened every time I record. I tried to lower the audio and video bitrate and encoding, but this hardly changes it.
My computer specs:
MSI Geforce GTX 760 4G
intel i5 750
4gb RAM
EVGA 500w
And I am using Windows 10

check audio format in windows playback and recording devices (for your mic and speakers/headphones and make sure the audio format is the same for both. whatever that value is, set OBS to that value in the encoding tab. 44100Hz or 48000Hz.

uncheck "force desktop audio to use video timestamps"
It helped but it didn't completely fix the problem. My guess is hardware issues because I tried turning down the bitrate, resolution, encoding, but nothing is getting completely rid of it. Thanks anyway, though.
