Changing Source for Media Source breaks OBS

I'd like to set up OBS so that it can play mpg files s1 to s6 (hooked up to my stream deck) and then I just provide the set of files on the folder when I use OBS. But changing the source file in the background results in errors in OBS, and the videos won't play - I have to delete the source and recreate it.

is there a way to just get OBS to play a set of files that I provide in the background without having to rebuild the scenes (which is a lot of work, and requires OBS skills, as opposed to any user)

This is turning out to be a problem for me. My usual operators now how to push the right buttons at the right times, but actually setting up the scenes correctly is way outside their skill base. I really need to be able to point OBS to a set of media files that I maintain on DropBox, so that it just plays whatever is the right music for the right scene (this is a church context).

Is there anyway to automate this? It's the only part of the whole affair that isn't just 'push this stream deck button at this time'
