Question / Help CBR - Twitch or OBS?

Is this an issue with twitch or OBS?

I have CBR enabled in OBS, twitch will sometimes say my connection settings are excellent but other times it will say it's Acceptable and that I should use CBR when I have it enabled.

I haven't changed any of the settings twitch just changes it's mind from time to time.

Is this a bug?

Twitch's detection can be a bit problematic. Just make sure you have CBR enabled in OBS.
One thing that can contribute; if you're using a non-standard buffer size, an over-large one can cause the detection to trip quite often, as it allows for a much less stable transfer bitrate. You'll want to match your buffer to your bitrate (just uncheck 'use custom buffer size' if you have it checked).

It's still happening when I have a custom buffer size enabled (same bitrate, obviosuly).

OBS also reports it's sending more than 2000Kbps as well at times?

Probably twitch. Reason why is because we use x264 just like everyone else, OBS is not an encoder itself, it uses the leading encoders. The encoding parameters you enter in are given to x264. We don't use any unusual or special parameters with x264 either. So the issue is most likely twitch's detection or the parameters you have entered.

Try setting the buffer to less than your bitrate. For example, I stream at 3000kbit, but my buffer is set to only 2000kbit. This keeps the bitrate more steady at the price of potentially lower quality during high bitrate scenes. In reality I'm quite satisfied with the quality that I see on my stream.
