Question / Help CBR: Non-custom buffer size?

Leaving "Use Custom Buffer Size" unchecked (using CBR), what will the actual buffer size be? Will the buffer size be the same as the bitrate, or no buffer size at all?

I looked at your old encoding settings guide (https://jp9000.github.io/OBS/settings/encodingsettings.html) where it says:

• Recommended: Leave "custom buffer size" unchecked and use the same as bitrate

The wording got me confused. I interpreted that as leaving it unchecked will make it use the same buffer size as the current bitrate automatically.

Could you please clarify?

That guide is for OBS Classic and should be considered deprecated.

If you are using OBS Classic, this version has not been in development for some time. It is strongly recommended that you update to OBS Studio. Links to download can be found here: https://obsproject.com/download
