Question / Help Cause of OBS Crash (see crash Report)

Hi there,

Firstly thank you for providing OBS completely free, a really fantastic tool. I'm not very computer literate and I am trying to find the reason why OBS crashed occasionally during my first livestream last week.

I have a copy of all the crash reports which I have attached. I launched the 64 bit version running and someone watching my stream suggested switching to the 32 bit version which seemed to help but it did crash once again after this and then seemed to stabilise.

I just wanted to check if there was something I need to change with my PC or with the OBS settings.

PC Specs:

• Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Processor/8MB L3 Cache
• Chillblast 120 CPU Water Cooler
• Asus PRIME Z270-P Motherboard
• 32GB DDR4 2400MHz
• 500GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 SSD
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Graphics Card

I'm not 100% sure if this was the correct way to get help, I joined this forum just for support. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

What specifically are you trying to capture?

The game I’m capturing in full screen is X-Plane 11. I also use some other scenes such as PDF files and a couple of other applications which I bring up occasionally during the stream.

There is no drop in frame rates, the CPU usage never increases above 10%. I just occasionally received the windows warning sound and a pop up saying OBS has crashed, would you like a copy of the crash report. I just relaunched and started the stream again. Sometimes it didn’t crash again for a few hours, other times it could manage about 15 minutes without crashing. There was nothing I opened or changed on my PC before OBS crashed, it was just whilst talking on the stream.

I did some test streams on YT of over two hours and for some reason it didn’t crash once!
