Question / Help Capture only game audio

Hi,
I know this topic has been brought up numerous times in the past, but I couldn't find the answer I'm looking for.

So, obviously the ability to capture only game audio would be an extremely useful feature, so I'm assuming there's a very good reason why we can't do it yet. All the leads I've found pretty much ignores the issue at hand and just points to using VAC, and CheVolume if necessary. These don't work very well for me, however, and they seem a bit overkill for the task. Not to mention I think the feature is extremely relevant to OBS, so I can't imagine it's a case of "doesn't fit".

CheVolume already does something similar, and Steam only broadcasts game audio, even for added non Steam games, so what's the problem? Is it "just" a case of requiring a lot of code?

Sorry if I'm coming off entitled. I certainly don't mean to imply that I demand this feature right now because I've seen it done elsewhere. I just can't remember seeing any official statement regarding implementation or not into OBS is all.

Thanks for a still great product

I thought I made it clear that I'm not looking for answers on how to solve this using external tools.

What do you mean? The "Desktop" audio source is the same as the default playback device I think, and captures all sound that you hear. Ideally I'm imagining each game capture source would appear as an individual sound source.

add a new audio input source and select the source where the game audio is coming from normaly its the desktop sound.

I suspect that the good reason why it's not a priority is that there are already perfectly good tools to help you achieve the goal.

So, the perfect solution would be including Audio Router as a plugin in OBS Studio.
So, programmers, consider this posibility.

Right, but "Desktop" is where all other sound goes to, like voice chat and YouTube, which is what we want to avoid here.

I suppose that may be, but I would've thought this to be such a useful feature that it be included in the core. OBS is already rather feature rich, after all and, as I mentioned, the tools available seems to me like a bit much for the task at hand. I'm normally not shy to use tools to achieve various goals, but in this case installing two additional programs to accomplish this - from a user perspective - simple task seems a bit overkill. If it was a less significant or relevant feature I would agree.

Yes, something like that. I don't know what would be required programmatically speaking, but as I mentioned above, I think a solution where the game capture appears as an audio channel could work well. Might need to change some other things, then. Channel volumes and mute are globally controlled, but with this you may want to control the Desktop channel per scene.

My point is that when you're prioritising which features to add, the things which can't currently be done at all will take precedence over the things which can be added, fairly easily, with other software.

Thank bros! I added Audio Router as a plugin in OBS Studio then it worked. I had the same problem and looked for the solution for months. Couldn't find anything on top1apk. so lucky to find here
