Question / Help Capture not working for certain games (Mabinogi)

For the games Mabinogi and Elsword I'm having issues being able to set up not only game capture but even window or monitor capture while they are running. I'm assuming its due to their anti cheating/hacking software but I don't really have any idea.

When I select game capture specifically the game will not show up as an option, everything else will but not these games. Only games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Hearthstone, SkullGirls, etc. are working perfectly fine.

When I try to get around it by selecting window or monitor capture, I can select the games but the screen remains black until I bring my cursor over the window.

This is the best I could do. Turning on anti cheat compatibility made it so that I can at least select it but I shows up as DWM monitor capture even though I've set it as game.

1. You seem to be using 32bit OBS. Unless there's a specific reason for this (e.g. compatibility with a capture card or personal preference), you should use 64bit OBS. Probably doesn't have anything to do with your issue.

2. When you record with Window Capture, are your games actually in windowed mode? Obviously trying to window-capture a fullscreen game won't work very well. Try putting them in windowed mode and recording them like that if you aren't already. (Just making sure, I made the same mistake once and felt *really* stupid when I finally figured it out)

3. Chrome tends to mess with OBS. If you're using it for your chat getting Chatty instead might be better. Chatty has issues too, but at least it doesn't lag OBS. Not related to your issue, but can prevent lag-related frustration in the future.

1. I'm only using 32 bit OBS because 64 bit refused to work on my computer, the program claiming I was running 32 bit.

2. I'm sure it's in windowed mode xD but thanks

3. Chrome doesn't really seem to make me lag all that much and I have alerters and stuff set up for twitch through chrome. I've never even heard of chatty :/

All I need now is for the game capture to actually capture the game window not my entire monitor. It's odd because I don't understand why it's capturing my whole monitor when it's set for game capture.

Chrome always has an impact on OBS, really anything running on your computer does, but I've heard Chrome is a particularily big culprit. The reason why many people like you don't notice is because their computers are good enough to have OBS work despite the suboptimal setup. If you want to get the very most out of your OBS setup you don't want chrome open. (Only exception is if your PC is so good OBS is already at the very best it can possibly do and you still have resources left)

Woah... nice catch there Harold. You definitely don't want to capture dwm, it's not your game but the thing windows uses to manage the task bar and program windows (DWM stands for desktop window manager).

Is DWM really the only thing showing up in the game capture source? If so you might want to use the hotkey feature (basically, you enter the game, then press the hotkey set in the source to tell OBS what to capture).

Mabinogi's anti-cheat system is EXTREMELY aggressive, and actively blocks hooking in for capturing. You need to run it in windowed mode and window capture it.
