Question / Help Capture Card for N64 Streaming with OBS?

Hey everyone! I apologize in advance if this question is redundant/silly, but there is an apparent dearth of information on this subject from half an hour of Google searching.

I'm looking for a capture card to stream my N64 console. I don't have a strong preference as to whether it's internal or external. Also, preferably this card would be compatible with OBS in its current or future release(s).

So far, the two cards I'm looking at are:
Dazzle DVC 100 - http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-Dazzle-D ... 004GHHVWI/
AVERMEDIA Game Broadcaster HD - http://amzn.com/B006T8QCYA

The Dazzle seems to have a lot of negative reviews, and I'm not sure of its compatability with OBS.

The Avermedia seems like overkill for what I want to do. Plus, it only has a VGA input, and converting an N64 signal to VGA seems like a hassle.

So, does anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

The Game Broadcaster HD doesn't accept composite or S-Video, and the N64 doesn't provide component or RGB output (at least not without an RGB hack). The Dazzle is a phenomenal piece of junk, pretty much only out-junked by the EasyCAP (and Chinese clones EZCap, etc). I would suggest to keep looking.

If you're up for RGB modding your N64 (or having someone do it / buying it pre-modded), I would recommend the StarTech PEXHDCAP. Hailed as the final word in affordable RGB/Component capture, it accepts pretty much any odd video mode you throw at it, whether from a home console or arcade game. Pair it with Amarec and you can get pixel-perfect capture of low res console games.

Thanks for the feedback!

Through some more research, all of the capture cards I've seen take in component cables, not the composite cables that come stock with the N64. There are composite to component converters out there, but they cost twice as must as the capture cards themselves!

Anyways, my hunt is still on! I'll edit this post or post again if I find anything else (depending on this forum's double-posting rules)

EDIT: After learning the proper terminology for what to search for, I finally found the StarTech SVID2USB2 (http://amzn.com/B000O5RIWO). This seems to be exactly what I'm looking for, and I'll probably end up purchasing it.

You could always try an emulator with gamepad. You can even play in upscaled resolutions that way. 1964 emulator with the community modded video plugin has great performance and compatibility, with the ability to load in HiRes textures. N64 emulators are generally pretty easy on modern systems. Plus, you can use Game Capture with the plugin since it's DX9 and take most of the capture load off your CPU.

Thanks for the suggestion! Using an emulator is something I've already considered and unfortunately, some the games I really want to play (and stream) aren't compatible with either Project64 or the 1964 emulator.

Specifically Pokémon Snap (of all games) has a lot of trouble, to the point where it's barely playable. I also recall having trouble with some others in the past, but I can't name them off the top of my head.

I suggest you to try the Glide64 video plugin with Project64 and see how it goes, it works brilliantly for me.
