Question / Help Capture Audio Issue

So Ive had this issue for some time, but it hasnt been as much of a nuisance until more recently, and ive had this issue for over a year at least. The issue is when using a capture card(Avermedia HD DVR), I cant mute the sound(quickly) without OBS muting all audio coming through that is not a microphone. Its hard to explain so I made a video showing what happens. Is this a known problem at all and are there any other solutions besides using the crossbar option?

Heres the video showing the issue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHg0L91BvQ0

Sorry to bump this, but does anyone know of a fix for this at all? I cant imagine im the only person with this issue. The only other option I know of is using Amarectv but again, kind of a nuisance rather then just unchecking the box with the audio capture

Does the volume bar for your Plantronics headset continue to move in the playback tab of the Windows sound panel when the capture card source is unchecked?

What happens when you remove the capture card source entirely? Does OBS then record your system audio correctly without any further adjustments?

How is everything connected together?

Yes, when I uncheck the box, the Volume Mixer in windows drops all the way down to mute on its own and i can move it back up, but when i repeat the process of checking the box then unchecking it, it drops down again. Also, once I have the capture source in use in any scene, it then spreads to all scenes whether that scene is using the capture device or not, so other scenes not using it will then become mute unless I add in the source, even if there is nothing coming through it

Could you describe how everything is hooked together? Types of cables, what connects to what, any changes you made to Windows audio devices like using the "Listen to" feature or installing VAC, your default playback device in Windows, etc.

So I have an internal capture card, the AverTV HD DVR (C027). It has an HDMI input that I plug into from an HDMI splitter, one to my TV, the other to the capture card from whatever device I am using. I have VAC installed but its not active and I dont use it at all with OBS. The Plantronics device I use is a Gamescom 780. I have 2 Logitech Webcams plugged in and a PS3 controller. There is no listen to feature active. Audio is set to 48000 in OBS and PC. Default speaker and mic is the headset.

Forgot to note that when the audio in the Volume Mixer drops, its only for OBS and not my entire system which is why I can still hear the audio in my headset and OBS goes mute.

Well the problem with turning it off is my audio from the capture starts to be delayed after about a minute or so and slowly increases the delay

That's likely because you've changed your scene buffering time from its default value of 700ms down to 200ms for no discernible reason. Put it back and see if that helps. The option is under Settings > Advanced.

Huh, I dont ever even remember changing that. Ill go ahead and test it out and let you know the result. Uncheck "use waveout renderer" did get rid of the sound muting issue, just need to see if the buffering time change will fix the audio starting to desync
