Question / Help Canvas/Stream Stuttering

Hello OBS community, I am hoping you guys can help me out here. Every time I try and stream, I get severe lag and stuttering when I definitely have the hardware to back it up. I used to be able to stream with no issue. I have a 3 monitor setup but usually only use 2 at once. The lag/stutter does not only happen on stream but also in the canvas. I've attempted all of the usual troubleshooting steps for this issue but to no avail. I can provide any information needed to assist me in fixing this. Thank you in advance.

Are all monitors the same model? Is their refresh rate set to the same value?

For troubleshooting purposes, since you are using "very fast" preset, could you try using NVENC encoder ("Quality" preset, disable Lookahead and Psycho Visual Tuning) and downscaling your camera to 720p@30FPS?

All three are Asus monitors with different resolutions, refresh rates and are plugged into my gpu. Yes I will give that a try although I did use the auto config wizard which set it to that.

"As of March 2019, as long as you're running 1809 or higher and have the latest Windows updates installed, it is now recommended to leave Game Mode enabled."

Mismatched resolutions and refresh rates cause all sorts of issues in Windows 10. This is likely part of or the entire reason for the problem you're experiencing.

You can somewhat mitigate this issue by disabling hardware acceleration on apps running on your secondary monitors and OBS preview but it will never be perfect.

I had the exact same issue and only solved it when resolution and refresh rates of all my monitors matched up.

I still haven't received the 1809 update so not sure if that brought on any additional problems or fixed anything else.

That's long overdue. If you still didn't get this update and want it, I propose you explicitly try to get it by navigating to:
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
and update from there.
If your machine isn't eligible due to the built-in hardware, it will tell. Sometimes, it's only some old driver that can be updated or worked around by deinstalling it and re-install an updated one after the update.

This is slightly off topic but what has changed concerning Game Mode that made it recommended to be turned on now? Just no longer impacting OBS or some other benefit?

As far as I understand, Microsoft acknowledged that there exist apps like OBS running in background that legitimately use some significant resources while a game is running in foreground, so they shall be given these resources instead of letting them starve.

I might be wrong, but I think I see typical game-mode related questions like "my game is running smooth but the video is choppy" are much less now since then.

Do you have anything else I can try? I am still having this issue and it never used to happen in the past. I'm on 1903 now and still I have the same issue.
