Question / Help Can't Separate Audio Tracks

Hello!

I started using OBS Studio today in order to try and have a bit more control while recording. I can't seem to get my audio tracks to separate. No matter what I do it seems like I can either get just desktop audio or just mic audio, but not both. I'll attach screenshots of all my settings as well as my voicemeeter settings. I am using HitFilm Express to edit with, if that helps or is necessary information.
Any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Edit: I feel I should mention that OBS is recognizing sound from both desktop and the mic with visual representation in the audio graph (I'm not sure if that's the right term, but the green -> yellow -> red bar beneath the source label), so it's not an issue of OBS receiving the audio.

Your setup is ok. You're writing 2 audio tracks to your videos. You can verify this with MediaInfo.

Keep in mind that media players playback only one track at a time. Media players never mix multiple audio tracks. You can only switch between tracks. Multi track recording is intended to be postprocessed by video editors who also edit and mix multiple audio tracks to one track you write to your final video.

Thank you for the quick response!
I'm using HitFilm Express to edit my videos in post. When I drag-and-drop the .mp4 file from my OBS recordings into Hitfilm it is only showing one audio track and is generally my mic's audio with no desktop audio. I will install MediaInfo to verify there are two tracks as you've suggested.
Any reason why this may be happening?

I don't know that video editor. Check if the video file actually contains 2 tracks and verify the contents of the tracks with the media player of your choice. Every media player should be able to switch between audio tracks, because traditionally multiple tracks are used to deliver multiple language tracks for a video.
If your video really contains 2 tracks and your video editor doesn't recognize these, contact the support of that video editor or choose a different one.

I just ran MediaInfo and verified that there are two tracks, so it must be something happening with my editing program. I will have to contact HitFilm's support and see if they can help solve the issue or select a different editing program to try and use.
Thank you immensely for your help, I really appreciate it!
Have a good day/night!
