Question / Help Can't record on full screen?

Hello :)

I apologize if the title to this thread is unsuitable or if I'm posting this in the wrong board.

I think I've successfully figured out how to record my screen as well as audio; however, I seem to be having trouble recording a game on full screen.

I was hoping to capture some footage of this game: click
but when I switch to playing on full screen; it only seems to stay on the little screen which turns white and no longer records the gameplay.

I'm not sure if I might be doing something wrong, or if maybe the technology simply isn't capable of recording this game?

Thank you for your time~

Please note that I did read the information regarding the 'OBS log file' I would gladly attach it, but I honestly don't understand how. (I'm not that great with computers; I apologize, but this is my very first time using this sort of thing so I'm a bit of a 'n00b')

It's okay, can you open the most recent log file at least? If you can, copy and paste the contents of the log file into a post. Yo don't need to attach or anything, just open the log file with notepad, press Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy, then click the browser text box where you type a post, and press Ctrl-V to paste it.

OH, I FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET TO THE LOG FILE THINGY :)

..sorry about the caps, I got a little excited..
this is a grand achievement for me

Anyways, I forgot which one had the problem since I have been testing and playing around with the program and my headset, etc, etc.
So, I just tried it again and created a new log; yes, I went to the game and experienced the same problem..

Ah you even used code tags. Thank you, very considerate of you.

Monitor capture appears to be what you're using -- you can't use monitor capture to capture a fullscreen game. You must use game capture for fullscreen games, otherwise the game must be run in borderless/windowed mode for monitor capture to pick it up.

Of course, not a problem :)
I may have no experience with capture programs like this, but I did used to own a forum, so basic UBBC was essential~

I removed the Monitor capture and switched to just a game capture; but then my entire screen was all black. It couldn't see anything.

You probably already know this information, but in case you don't, I am using a laptop..?
So, I don't know if things work differently with those or not..

Anyways, I'm not entirely sure if you need it, but this is the most recent log report:

10:24:22: CaptureThread: attached to process chrome.exe

Edit: Alright, so I did some digging around and I found this thread here: click
It seems really helpful, but I'm not sure if it'll work on my laptop?
I have a Toshiba, and it's on Windows 8...?
Should I be trying to follow those steps, or is there another solution I should be trying?

Yea, that thread will set up your laptop. I should have noticed that sooner with your log and warned you about it.

That's fine :)

Although; I tried to figure out the steps and I'm not sure what do to..

I mean, I was somehow able to find the nvidia control panel-- but I don't understand what I should do from there..
I don't see anything about OBS on it..

I'm probably just looking in the wrong place on the control panel; but I'm not sure..

Top adapter in OBS' "video adapter" drop down in video settings (it'll probably say intel).

Go to nvidia control panel from windows' control panel, 3D settings, then on the right side, go to the 'global' tab. Select nvidia (or "performance"). Then that should fix the issue. You might also want to try specifically adding OBS.exe in the other tab as well, though usually the global settings should be enough.

This issue will be easier to deal with in future versions of OBS.

I'm so sorry,I don't understand.
Although, I don't think everything that you're saying should be there is actually there..?

Here are some screen shots:

Video adapter drop down menu:
click

Global settings:
(I can't find nvidia' or 'performance')
click

Program settings:
(I added OBS, but I'm not sure which settings to tinker with to make this all work; again, I cannot find 'performance')
click

Looks like you have everything setup correctly although you're not pointing your Nvidia 3d manager to the 32bit version of OBS it shouldn't be a problem.

The game that you're trying to capture uses flash player first make sure that your browser/flash plugin 3d settings on nvidia also uses the high performance nvidia processor (second option on your pictures) and then on OBS create a game capture source that uses a hotkey in order to start capturing. Go back to the game and once you go full screen press that hotkey.

The game uses 'Unity player' which I guess is a flash player, but I don't know how to "make sure that your browser/flash plugin 3d settings on nvidia also uses the high performance nvidia processor'
I was able to create a game capture with a hotkey, but I don't think it's working, and I honestly don't understand what a hotkey even is.

I'm soo, soo sorry if this is frustrating for you guys, but I'm totally, 100% brand new to this terminology and I've never had anyone teach me anything about this sort of stuff, so it's all really confusing.
I'm surprised I've made it this far

A Hotkey is like a shortcut. Lets say you set your browser to go full screen by pressing a button on your keyboard, whatever button you set (For example "7") becomes the full screen hotkey.
