Question / Help Can't record more than 7 to 8 minutes before comp becomes laggy

Hi everyone,

I am trying to do a display capture and it seems that I can not record more than approx 7 to 8 minutes or so before the computer starts lagging to the point where I can barely use it. After playing around with this for a while I realized that this is mostly happening when I record my voice. If I don't speak in the microphone, all is well.

My specs:
CPU: Intel Core I7 - 7700, 3.60GHZ
8 GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB
Windows 8.1 - 64 bits

My OBS recording settings look like this:

Reducing the bit rate to as low as 5000 does not fix the problem.

Audio bit rate has been set to 96, 128 and 160 and there is no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I forgot to mention that it works really well in the beginning and then suddenly small spikes and then it slows down exponentially. So it's not really a gradual process. It's more like [Smooth, Smooth, Smooth, ..., Smooth, Spiky, Spiky, Real bad...]

Hey,

That link you gave me seems to point to a bug which indeed is the same as mine. I will be following it closely although I can see many people are using hope for fining a solution :)

Thanks!

I tried uploading the log file of my last recording attempt, but it seems that when I press Upload Last Log, nothing happens (no windows pops up), so I decided to just load this screenshot of the section that pertains to the recording time interval:

So it seems that frames are skipped due to render stalls...
