Question / Help Can't Record Anything. Black Screen

Whenever I try to preview stream or stream anything in windowed, monitor, or game capture mode the screen is black. I have a log below. I have tried adding the OBS software to the Nvidia control panel and setting it for "performance" as mentioned in another thread but that has had no effect. I have tried the windowed/game capture mode with multiple games, where is made sure they were using the nvidia gpu as well and it was black. Of course it also doesn't work for my whole screen either as I mentioned already even when I disable aero.

You have to add something to your scene, your log shows you streaming nothing which is why you get a black screen.

I thought that I had the different type of captures selected under global sources. Is that not the right place?

Ah, a common misconception of a new user (which is actually our fault, not yours). You do not add sources via global sources, you add them by right clicking on the "sources" box on the main window. The fact that a right-click is required is a design flaw on our part. Global sources are a completely different thing, they are used to ensure that a source persists between scenes (which is usually used for devices).

All this is covered in the help file though.

However, if you DO wish to use some of the sources as Global Sources, once you have added them to your Global Sources menu, you right click the Sources box and then mouse over "Global Sources" and select a source you want in that scene.
