Question / Help Can't open OBS's recorded files

(I'm not sure this is a bug or something) I can't open the recorded files on OBS why is this happening? Can anyone help me?
The first time i was using OBS it was working fine but after a few weeks this happened.
I cant open the files and i have no idea what is wrong.

Recording format: mp4
Encoder: x264
Rate control: CRF 22
CPU usage preset: ultrafast

Try opening the file in VLC. If that doesn't work then the recording may be corrupt; you should record to FLV or MKV, not MP4, so that if something goes wrong the whole file isn't lost.

Oh, thank you so so so so much! MKV worked for me but not FLV :) BIG THANKS now i can record! YAY
Edit: oh yeah i need to convert the MKV file it will take a long time

If you need to convert to a different container format, use the remuxing options in OBS's file menu. It won't re-encode, just switch to a different container.

Use the remuxing option in the file menu. You can change the container format to MP4 or whatever it is you need without re-encoding the video.

You should still be able to open it in VLC just fine. Why do you need to change the container format?

But you stated earlier that the file opened fine in VLC? And I'm still curious why you need to remux.
