Cant install obs

nah its popcoin

So I tried multiple times to install obs and it keeps telling me: this application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I keep reinstalling and it keeps giving the same message.

OBS 28 works only on Win 10 or higher. This is clearly stated on the download page and in the update popup in OBS.
You can still use a previous version which works on the OS you have.

You did not state anywhere that you were on Windows 10, so they would not have known that, and that error usually only shows up in those cases.

Can you check to see if OBS has created any log files in the following location, and if it has, upload one here so we can take a look?

1. Press WinKey+R to open the Run dialog
2. Paste the following into the box and hit OK: %APPDATA%\obs-studio\logs

Unfortunately, there is something on your PC that is either deleting components of OBS (some kind of overly aggressive antivirus or security software) or you are not installing it correctly. I'd recommend grabbing the full installer from our download page and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, next steps would be providing a screenshot of the OBS installation directory (default C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit).

Hello everyone,
I just discovered your forum to be able to install OBS
I also have Windows 10 Entrerpise2015 LTSB which works very well
Except that Microsoft "forces" users to switch to Win10 22H2 (and even switch to Win11) for example to install the latest Nvidia drivers
Your "latest" OBS 29.1 will not install on 'OBSolet' versions of WIN10 because the latest Nvidia drivers are not in place.
Here are my used video cards, gtx760, gtx 970, gtx 1060
I managed to install the latest OBS version (29.1) with the gtx1060 and WIN10 22H2 installed, for the other 2 with WIN10 2015 OBS does not install, the latest nvidia drivers either
I agree on equalizer's answer, your way of responding to people is not correct.
We even wonder if you are not an autistic bot ... more and more answers on the net in this genre.
You are still lucky that some take the time to respond to you as an equalizer.
in short, not everyone is a computer specialist.

Please provide the exact error message, but I'm reasonably sure we don't support versions of Windows that old anymore.
