Bug Report Can't install OBS Studio anymore

hi,
i had OBS Studio version 19.0.1 or something like that and i wanted to update to the newest version.
The Installer said "OBS is still running, please close OBS first".
But OBS wasn't started so i looked into the task manager and saw that there was a obs32.exe task.
But the status was "Paused". I could close the task because i got denied (even though i was the admin).
Tryed many things but i could close the task(even not in CMD with "taskkill /im obs32.exe /f")

So i thought uninstalling and reinstalling would help. BUT after uninstalling OBS Studio the task was still there?? and the installer said the same thing as the updater :" OBS is still running, please close OBS first"

What can i do now? I can't close the task and i can't install OBS Studio again and i have to stream today.

It's most likely deadlocked inside a kernel driver, usually caused by buggy camera / capture device drivers. A reboot should solve it. Check all your drivers are up to date afterwards.

I already rebooted my pc a couple of times and my drivers are up to date. But i still can't close the obs32.exe task.
What now?

obs32.exe should not be running after a reboot. If it is, remove OBS from any auto start places.

well but it is still there. When i open Task manager and go to "Details" there is the obs32.exe task in "paused" status.
Obs is not in an auto start place. And i don't even have OBS installed anymore on the PC like i said before. So is there another option to terminate this buggy obs32 task?

You can right click it and open file location to figure out where it's running from. Rename or delete it.

I can't delete it, because my access gets denied. Even in Admin-mode.
And when i want to rename or delete the "obs32" folder, i get denied again.
Is there another option?

Reboot into safe mode and try there. No idea what's happening on your system, maybe some insane antivirus or malware.

Google how to boot into safe mode, but add which OS or motherboard you are using
You hit a key, usually multiple times because the screens not up long, as your PC is booting up
Its usally F2 or F11 or something

Hi I followed the first reply of this Reddit post and it worked: https://www.reddit.com/r/obs/comments/leixy1/obs_says_i_have_a_obs_running_when_i_dont/

As I did not find "Advanced", I clicked on "Details" and then found "obs64.exe" and clicked with the right button of the mouse on it and on the drop-down menu that opened, I clicked on "End task" (you can do the same by selecting the task and clicking on the button saying "End task" on the bottom-right of the Task Manager window or pressing the Delete key). I hope it works for you.
