Question / Help Can't get OBS and Twitch to talk to each other

Hello everyone

I'm new to streaming and want to run a small FTL stream (just the game itself. Don't need my face or a mic or anything else but the game and its own audio) for a small group of friends, but after going through the guide that describes how to set up OBS, OBS is capturing the game just fine, but I can't figure out how to then get the captured footage onto Twitch or how to share the stream with my friends.

Here's a collage of relevant screenshots of my settings and the OBS and Twitch Dashboard windows as they currently look:

I should note that I don't really care if the stream quality is bad as long as the on-screen text is legible. Beyond that it can be as choppy as it likes. Also, where it says "Offline" on the dashboard wasn't always there. It actually did seem like it was working for a few brief moments, but as soon as I shut OBS down and started it back up again (I was still fixing up the settings at that stage), the little "Offline" notation came up and didn't go away again.

I have pretty much the best internet that's available in my area... on paper anyway... No idea about uploads, but it's supposed to give 20 MB/sec downloads. In practice it usually gives 30-175 KB/sec downloads

The problem is not only the speed, but also the ping (response time). I would say you see the "timeout" message pretty often if you try to get something done in europe or US.
Your only choice is the server in Sydney, everything else take ages to respond and would be a bad idea to use it.
But it should work.

OK, then what do I do next? Since I already had the Sydney server selected and it was producing the results (or lack thereof) outlined in the OP. Like I said, at the moment I actually don't know how to direct people to my stream, even if it is working. But again, it says "offline" on the Twitch dash, so I have to assume that means it isn't working.

Quality of 0 == that server is completely unusable for streaming.

Contact your ISP and complain.
