Question / Help Cant change the recording format, file is damaged

I set the the "recording quality" to "losless quality" but then the recording format option disappeared, can't I change the format somehow while using that recording quality?
Then I still used that recording quality with the .avi file format and did a 3h speedrun but now when I open the file it only plays sound and no video. I already searched on Google but the DivX program didn't help (which a lot of people said that it fixed the problem). I would like to create high quality videos but if the file ends up like that it's not worth it.

Anyone got a solution how to fix this?

Make sure to play the file back in your editing program and not in windows media player or anything like that, I recently had an issue where playing it back in Windows Media Player did not play back all audio tracks. If you are using multiple audio tracks make sure to preview your video in your video editor to make sure there is actually a problem. I myself went through like a weeks worth of trials just to find that there was never a problem to begin with lol.

But I don't want to use editing programs because it takes addidtional hours for nothing. Im never editing my speedruns because I don't need to add anything.

The lossless recording quality is hard locked at utvideo/pcm in an avi.
I don't know who said that DivX would help with it, but it won't.

If you want high quality, use indistinguishable recording quality, FLV format, software (X264 low cpu use) encoder

it's massively better.

There are precisely ZERO good reasons to save directly to mp4 in obs.

If you record to MP4 and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable.
