Can't capture any video from my new capture card

So, today my capture card arrived! I decided to try to use it with my switch (yes it is docked) and plugged in the hdmi to the capture card and the other end to the dock and plugged the capture card into the laptop. I setup OBS to get video from the capture card - but all I see on OBS is some colored lines, NOT the switch.
