Cannot resize game capture?

I was using OBS multiple times now - it worked great... however suddenly the fullscreen and or window game capture no longer displayed anything. So I decided to look at the location of the capture window and oddly it shows up in the top left hand corner where I cannot move or modify it now?? I then went into "view" and changed it to "fit to screen" (tried many of those fit / scale options) and the red boxes now fill the preview window but again there is nothing displayed? I also cannot alter the size/position of this window?
I un-installed OBS (and also removed all my saved profiles) and re-installed the newest version yet I still have the same issue?

Also noticed "capture window" was not showing anything either (even when I would select the name from the list), so I rebooted and now OBS shows a blank list of available windows to capture from (despite there being open windows to capture from).

nothing displayed.jpg

After fiddling around I did manage to get the .exe's show show again, however they still display nothing. This view here is "edit" then "transform" and then "Fit to screen"... again if I set it to normal where you can re-size move the window around to where ever you want it to be on the screen... it is stuck up in the left hand corner as a small red box and cannot be moved or edited. (The audio from the game *IS* recorded)... I have this feeling the game display is actually displaying but the window is off screen where I cannot reach it.

I can see the game capture if I use "window capture" but not in game capture "window" (or full screen capture). Here is a pic of "window capture" displaying in game content with the tiny red square in the upper left corner once again being "game capture window" which I cannot open or scale/drag move... other than "edit/transform - fit to screen" and all that does is display black (never showing anything).

I might also add that when I use "Capture Window" and choose the "game window .exe" I see the game even in the properties preview as well as behind it in the OBS preview. However when I open "game capture" and choose capture specific window and click on the .exe there is nothing displayed in the properties or obs view behind it. (I also made sure there was no other scene's/profiles interfering)

as a side note, I sure wish there was more than a 10min window to make edits. I would have summarized this entire post down into one more specific post.
And I'd also add a question if there was/is a registry setting that might be the issue?
