Question / Help Cannot initialize desktop audio sound

basically ever since i installed my xonar u7 so my current headphones can fully work this issue has been happening and i have been unable to stream anything.

is there a way to bypass this? or i bought these headphones and sound card for nothing.

I am having the same exact issue, same error, strikingly similar log file, almost identical hardware. Coincidence?

The driver version for the Xonar U7 is:
Version7.0.11.19
Xonar U7 Driver for Win7 32/64-bits(A-Volute UI version: 1.0.13)

I have also tried to record using OBS Studio, but instead of crashing with the error, it just simply doesn't detect the sound (the device DOES show up though in both programs)

Toggling dolby home theatre mode on/off didn't seem to make a difference, fiddling with the format (bits / sample rate) didn't seem to solve it, no matter what I pick.

Other programs seem to be just fine with my audio output channel format.
