Issue:
Desktop Audio is not being captured. In the mixer, the meter shows nothing despite audio playing.
Everything worked fine when last I streamed about a week ago, but this issue cropped up today without any settings being changed.

Attempted troubleshooting:
- Restart OBS, restart programs, in varying orders
- Update OBS
- Restart and update computer
- Selected default and speakers/headphones (Realtek audio) as Device for Desktop Audio
- Unplugged/re-plugged in stereo system from headphone jack
- Unchecked all tracks except track 1 for all audio sources (previously all tracks were checked)
- Reverted all mute/unmute/push to talk/push to mute settings and shortcuts

Interesting. It looks like it's trying to capture your AMD HDMI output at one point, even though all the initializations point at your Realtek device. ...twice, actually.

Not entirely sure what's going on, but I can suggest two things to start troubleshooting.
One, go into Windows' Sound settings, into the properties tab for your speakers, and make sure that ;Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device' is unchecked.
Two, in OBS, in Settings->Audio, set your Desktop device(s?) to Disabled. Then add an Audio Output Capture source to one of your scenes, and point it at your speaker device. I've had the global ones act a little weird now and then, but the AOC source always works reliably.

It's still showing the AMD audio device being initialized for some reason, which is confusing.

This might be a nuclear option (and a dirty workaround) but to get you up and running, have you considered installing Voicemeeter Banana? It'd allow detailed control of your audio sources and routing, and could help narrow down and rule out a weird audio situation on your machine. It does require a bit of setup (which we can't help with here, outside the scope of OBS Support) but could get things kicking along in the meantime at least, and maybe uncover whatever underlying issue is going on.

Additionally, another nuclear option I had to take myself not too long ago to fix one of my audio sources.
Go into Sound, recording or playback, double-click the device, Advanced tab, Restore Defaults.
My mic solidly refused to work until I did that regardless of other settings changes, after which it was fine. No idea why or how, but it fixed my issue. Maybe it could knock something loose on your end as well.

I had the same problem and this advice was helpful, thx for posting.

Go to Windows settings - System - Sound - SOund Control Panel
Right click your sound input device, select properties so you get the Line properties
Click Listen, and checkbox Listen to this device and apply
