Question / Help Can not here Spotify audio when streaming on Twitch using OBS.

Wondering if anyone is having the same issue and might have a solution. Here is the situation:

I stream on Twitch and currently I am obviously using OBS. OBS is set to accept audio from my speakers and can transmit audio from Discord, Teamspeak, iTunes, and game play sounds. All of these are coming through the same channel into my speakers (headphones). Spotify is also playing over my speakers and I can hear the music, BUT when I use it with OBS the audio is not being broadcasted to Twitch.

I was using Virtual Audio Cable, but after speaking with several people who are also using OBS and Spotify together without it, I decided to remove the software. (It was causing some odd issues with Overflows through the three channels which I could not get fixed.).

Has anyone come across a simular situation? I've looked through the settings of Spotify but I don't see an option to set a channel the audio is going over. I haven't been able to find a possible windows setting that might have spotify redirecting the audio to a different channel, but I might have missed something. OBS does not have a way to single out the audio content to possibly redirect Spotify to the right channel either. I hope it is something simple that ia m just over looking, so if anyone has seen this issue before and has a solution please let me know. Spotify is a great service, but since i mainly got it for the purpose of streaming on Twitch, I'd hate to get rid of it because I can't get the audio to work.

Thanks ahead of time for the help.

What is your default audio playback device in Windows set to? That's what your browser will use to play Spotify audio. Make sure that matches up with the device you've selected to record in OBS.

My all of my audio is defaulted to my Speakers (headphones are plugged into my speakers port). OBS is also set to my speakers as well. That is what is so confusing. I can hear the audio from Spotify over my headphones, but when I start streaming the music is silent in the Twitch broadcast. Only sound i hear is me talking.

If i boot up iTunes though, the audio from that will broadcast over Twitch.

Do you see the volume mixer in OBS moving to match the audio that Spotify is playing? Do you see the same behavior in the Windows audio control panel, with the volume indicator for the speakers you use is moving there as well?

I'd have to check if OBS volume mixer is moving later today. (At work sadly). Will the OBS volume mixer move even if I am not in a stream? Can I run OBS in preview and get the results from the OBS volume mixer or would I have to go live? I do know that the window audio volume indicator is moving.

Good to know. If the OBS volume mixer is not registering the audio, is there something you have seen that might be causing that not to register the audio in OBS. I'd think that it would be universal since I am not using VAC for multiple channels anymore.

Also thought that maybe, VAC has left some sort of config file or registration after the uninstall that might be conflicting, but again while that is a near to nothing slim chance, I would assume that would effect all audio and not single out Spotify.
