Your audio card needs to be able to support mic/headphones in the same jack. I've seen this on some laptops, but not on desktops. Look up your sound card manual online to see if it's supported or not. If it isn't, you'll need a stand alone microphone, or a head set that has split connectors at the end that you'll plug into speakers, and mic individually.
