Hello,

Question is pretty clear, is is possible to stream while I play in 3D? Heck I would not mind streaming in 3D on Youtube if viewers can view in 3D too but not sure if it can be done... so I thought about streaming in 2D but I'd like to keep playing in 3D. I play in 3D most of the time, that's how I enjoy playing.

My only quick test after installing OBS for the first time was that when OBS ran and I switched back to my game, 3D was disabled and usually I just ALT-TAB and return to game to trigger 3D but it was not working.

Any thoughts?

What kind of 3D are we talking about? The one with the colored 3D-glasses? 3D with a specialized screen and the dark-tinted 3D-glasses? Or just some sort of virtual reality device?

Excellent question, I forgot to specify. I play with 3D Vision enabled, not in the discovery one (cyan/red) but with a 120Hz monitor. If OBS can send only the left image then I guess it would work?

I'm not sure if there's a way to actually tell OBS to only use the left image, although by just streaming in 60fps you might get lucky and end up only seeing the left frame. I'm not really sure how 3D vision interacts with hooks like the one OBS uses to capture things, though.

Anyways, 3D just disabled itself with OBS open? Just with it open, or were you actually trying to record or preview?

IIRC I had to start preview then 3D was disables. In fact it was kind of enabled because usually when you play a game in 3D and you want to switch to 2D in the middle it is possible to press CTRL-T to toggle between 3D and 2D.

When OBS was in preview and I switched to the game, no 3D effect but pressing CTRL-T was switching from Left image to Right image and vice versaé That was easy to to see because there is a slight shift between both images.

Is your game in fullscreen mode? Does 3D Vision even work in window mode?

Anyway, if it's fullscreen you're probably using Game Capture. If that's the case you can try enabling the anti-cheat compatibility hooking. Maybe that does something.

Yes I play fullcreen but it's also possible to play in a window and only the window is 3D. I do that mostly for watching pictures.

Ok I will try the anti-cheat compatibility later today, after work in fact. That's a weird name for an option! No idea how cheat is possible while OBS run.

Thanks!

anti-cheat does not help. When I start OBS 3D works fine.. 3D is disabled at the moment I test streaming and after stoping it it does not goes back, I need to close OBS and 3D kicks in again.

I guess I need to submit this to programmers of OBS so they can have a look?

Game have option for Full Window and it worked! I was able to play in 3D while streaming (test at least) was 2D. Unfortunatly I found out that Full Window mode make the game FPS not smooth (even when OBS not running) and I would not play like this... Full Screen makes it very smooth.

I may give the multiplatform a try later...

Tried Multiplatform and was able to get it works by enabling the Multi-adapter Compatibility!
I switched that option back and forth and it was consistent.

My fear was that when I was switching to the game, so full screen, that the stream could be 3D and when I switched back on OBS it was displaying only the last frame, because when I quit full screen game, game freeze in background.

I was able to start the broadcast on YouTube and use another computer to verify and all seemed ok.

Thank you for you help!
