Hi I’m new to OBS. I got an avermedia capture love gamer HD 2. I have a few questions.
1. Where do I hook my head set to? The capture card or the actual computer?
2. I’ve hooked it to the capture card but I’m not getting any desktop audio. When I put my headset in the front of my computer I just get desktop audio.
3. the headset I’m using is Turtle beach XO four. The have to have an adapter to my controller.
I appreciate you reading this and I hope to get this issue resolved.

Can you describe your setup in more detail? What is the capture card connected to?

Your capture card is for getting audio/video out of another device (console, gaming computer) and into a computer for encoding/streaming. It won't give you desktop audio from the streaming computer, only audio from the captured source. Are you capturing from a computer or a console?

The capture card is an internal one. I’m a capturing from an console. I have an HDMI from the console to the capture device then a HDMI to the monitor. The setup is a single computer. Last night I was able to get both audios but the audio for the game play is behind the video. I plugged the headset to the mic outlet on the back of the computer to get both. But like I said when I just the audio out jack on the capture card I just get game play audio. My thing is I can’t hear the alerts when I’m streaming.

The capture card audio isn't going to be able to give you alerts. It's only going to play the audio it's capturing from the console.

You should be able to configure your computer to let you hear alerts and captured audio by using the audio monitor feature in OBS (settings > Audio > Audio Monitor, but there will be a delay that you find unpleasant during gameplay.
