Can’t get audio when getting footage off my tapes

hi i’m using the obs 27.2.4 version
i can get the video fine but audio options aren’t showing up other than the mac microphone
im on a 2012 macbook pro using a firewire cable to my song dcr-trv6e
 
OBS 27 on that era of MacBook doesn't auto-detect DV audio from firewire camcorders very well. Open Audio MIDI Setup (in /Applications/Utilities) and check if your DCR-TRV6E shows up as an audio device there when connected. If it doesn't, the firewire interface might only be passing video. I had a similar issue digitizing old tapes, ended up running the audio out from the camcorder's headphone jack into a USB audio interface as a workaround. Not ideal but it syncs fine if you start both sources together in OBS.
