Bug Report cam problems on 14.10

so basically no matter what settings, the cam runs video like ass on the default choice for a logitech c270. i have to go with the emulated option (the second one in the dropdown menu) to get proper video.

its much more smooth and fluid with the emulated on vs default, which makes NO SENSE. how is an emulated feature faster than a native? can this please be updated in next release, thank you,

It's not a bug & it makes sense but it needs a little explanations:

By default on OBS, your cam uses YUV which is a common but uncompressed format. This results in a consequent data stream that your USB connection (& sometimes your computer) could have some problems to handle fluently...

The "emulated" mode actually activates MJPEG (MotionJPEG) format which is a compressed format: a chip in you cam encode your data stream in MJPEG which is smaller than the same data stream in YUV and then more fluent & more easily handled by your USB connection.

So why don't they put that by default ? Simply because not all cams can encode in MJPEG, so it can't be a "default" solution.
