Question / Help c920 camera freezes and OBS not responding

Hello,

I'm having the issue where after having streamed for one or two hours, the webcam freezes and when I try to restart OBS it stops responding. It also takes a long time before OBS is willing to shut down when this occurs.

I did have the webcam set to record at 1080p before, but the problem persisted even after changing it to 720p.

Computer specs:
I7-3610QM @ 2.30GHz
GTX 660M
8GB RAM
Webcam: Logitech c920 using an USB 3.0 port

I hope someone can help me with this since it's really annoying, forcing me to use a worse webcam.
If more information is needed, I will provide it for you. Thanks in advance for looking into this issue.

I think the first two are the ones where the issue occured, but posting the third one just in case.

I have the same camera, though I've probably only done maybe two or three tests of that long of a duration in my time of using it (approximately 3+ hours), though I haven't seen it happen in those cases. Unfortunately, in the log file it doesn't seem to say that anything is wrong.

Have you tried different ports? Does it happen if you don't use the audio device that you have selected in the properties of the device?

I haven't tried different ports or audio devices, I'm just using a headset with a microphone. Can't really pick a different way to capture my voice atm. Maybe my camera just has a defect or something.

I will try to use a different port, hope it will fix the problem. Thanks for looking into the issue, really appreciate it!
