built-in YouTube chat has no input box

When I connect my YouTube account, rather than manually entering the stream key, I now get a chat window built into OBS (i.e., no pasting in the URL from Youtube to a custom dock, which is all I see info about when I search this issue). This box receives chat from viewers of the live stream, but I don't see any way to respond within OBS - there's no input box at the bottom of the chat. Am I missing something?
This is in OBS 27.1.3, on an M1 Mac running macOS Monterey 12.0.1 (both are latest as of this posting).

You're not missing anything. Unfortunately the YouTube API is extremely limited in terms of how you're actually able to send chat messages to YouTube chat, so that functionality is missing from the OBS YouTube chat dock. We hope that YouTube will improve their chat API to allow us to do this in the future in a way that matches user expectations.
