So, I got a bug today when I was trying to use OBS on Ubuntu 14.04. I following these instructions https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/ubuntu-14-04-ppa-installation-instructions.16495/

But, it didn't work. I really want to stream to Twitch, but no. Here's my log:

To be honest, I don't know what you mean. So if you could give me pointers as what it is, thanks!

He's asking you to type "glxinfo | grep OpenGL" in a terminal and to tell us the result: it should give us your OpenGL version.

It said "The program 'glxinfo' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install mesa-utils" So I installed it then I installed it and then did it again. Here's what it said:
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880
OpenGL core profile version string: 3.1 (Core Profile) Mesa 10.1.3
OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 1.40
OpenGL core profile context flags: (none)
OpenGL core profile extensions:
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 10.1.3
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
OpenGL context flags: (none)
OpenGL extensions:

Note, I did do anything else but type "sudo apt-get install mesa-utils" and "sudo apt-get update" to get OpenGL.

It'll load, but it will just give me a screen of whatever is behind at the time I open it up.

I agree with Osiris...your GPU RS880 (so I assume you got a Radeon HD 4250) can only support until OpenGL 3.1 with Mesa (and worse with Catalyst).

In short, your graphics card is too old to fully run OBS. Sorry ! :/

Dang... Well hopefully I'll get a upgrade for my birthday :)
any recent intel chip should work and or I can tell you that the 750Ti is a beast of a card. It even does 4k gaming. We've been discussing it on the Linux Tech and Gaming podcast. Great GPU for the money
