Don't know what on earth happened, but this was very frustrating.
Log report in case that helps but I don't think it will. I'm on Windows, and I opened OBS to record, and did record something, then I went to recordings and noticed that it hadn't been recorded somehow even though I was 100% sure that I had hit the record button and all.
Frustrated because this was something I could only do once on a game and it was very hard to reset to an earlier save, I went back and did the whole thing again, only to see that I still hadn't recorded anything and nothing was saved even though I explicitly pressed the record function this time. In other words, OBS stopped recording things to location.
Happened again, I reset the game, and it doesn't even show something in the folder when I start recording like it usually does. But somehow, magically ten minutes later it starts recording as if nothing happened, but what I was recording is already gone and now I have practically no way to reset the game all the way back to that save file. I can try, but it will be annoying.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but OBS was pretty bugged when I opened it as well- it wouldn't open even after I clicked on it multiple times and then a screen showing 'OBS is already running' pops up and OBS finally starts. Then this whole problem started.
It seems to be running fine now.
