Question / Help Browser Window Capture Issue

When I try to use Window Capture on a browser window it isn't working. Sometimes it shows all black, sometimes white, and sometimes it is transparent when I add it to my OBS preview. On occasion it will initially pick up the window but then not update as the window changes. I have tried this with both Chrome and IE using both "Entire Window" and "Inner Window" options and have tried adjusting the sub-region but nothing works.

I have tried this with both the latest stable release (.592) and the latest test build (.60 build 9). What am I doing wrong?

Window capture works on other programs, just not browsers.

Even "compatibility mode"? Also, try typing chrome://flags/ into the URL bar, and see if turning off "GPU compositing on all pages" fixes the problem.

Thanks but neither of those worked unfortunately. Whenever I try to capture something in the browser it instead captures whatever is behind the browser, either my desktop or whatever window is open behind it, but it still doesn't refresh/update if I move one of the windows behind the browser.

I tried that too but it isn't working. Here are a couple of screenshots of both monitors (browser on right, OBS on left) showing you what I am trying to capture and what OBS is showing. With IE it at least shows a couple of the ads from the page (though they aren't in the visible window but further down the page) but nothing else. Chrome just displays white and black boxes.

Could you post a log file? Would like to see some system specs

Woah, that's a lot of debug stuff lol. Anyways the problem is that you have one monitor connected to your main gpu and another monitor on your igpu. Having two separate active gpu's will break window capture. It's been like that since forever. Connect both your monitors to your main gpu and it will be fine.

Yea, you have two monitors in two different adapters. Most likely that's the cause of the capture issue, as I sort of suspected.

"Compatibility mode" in window capture is supposed to fix that issue specifically, but it appears to not be working in this case either, which is really weird.

Thanks for the info. I'll try connecting both monitors to the main GPU and see what happens.

Just an FYI, even when I put the browser onto the monitor of the primary GPU it doesn't capture. Not sure if that is supposed to make a difference.

Thanks to both of you.

EDIT: That did the trick. Thanks again to both of you for the help!

This thread helped me. Thanks. It stinks that I can't use QuickSync to capture Dark Souls though (requires window capture when using DSfix). Oh well. I'm glad streaming the game works again!
