Browser source not there

I installed obs via the apt respository, and there was no Browser source, I can load plugins, just not create browser sources.
I also tried the flathub, but then I couldn't load plugins (I need multiple RMTP and Audio move)

I am using Kubuntu 24.10

I also ran into this problem, for some reason the standard default version of OBS that is on most distro's (I'm using an Arch distro) doesn't include the browser sources. If you look at the list of available OBS versions there is some on there that come with the browser sources included. The one I found using Octopi is called OBS-studio-stable v31.0.3-1 that includes the browser sources(though it is still missing some plugins I'm used to OBS having like custom browser docks), it seems the default for some reason is OBS-studio v31.0.3-2 which does not have the browser sources included for some silly reason. But you should be able to apt get the correct version in the console.

Hi,

Today, I installed OBS on fresh Ubuntu 24.04 installations using the following methods:
- SNAP
- Flatpak
- PPA via ppa:obsproject/obs-studio

In all three ways I wasn't able to get access to the Menu - Docks - Custom Browser Docks
Add a Browser Source was still possible.

The final way to get running it was login with the "Ubuntu X.org" option instead of Wayland?
There I had Browser Source AND custom Browser docks menu

What linux distro is recommended for using OBS that does support custom browser docks?
It's a deal breaker and I need to move a client away from Windows.

You need to run an Xorg session instead of Wayland. Check with your Linux distribution. More and more are leaving Xorg behind in favor of Wayland.

Moved to Linux Mint and it works. The Wiki should not say it supports Ubuntu if you need to configure it in a non-standard way.
