Question / Help Broken file

I have been using OBS for years, and am very satisfied with it. Never has a file been corrupted until a week ago. I currently now have 2 broken files and I'm wondering if there's a way to fix them. I tried the VLC method with the first file but since it didn't work, I didn't attempt on file 2.

Both recordings are long, not as in an hour but more like 6 hours and the recordings immediately before and after them are fine. It says they are offline and gives the size, one is 4.7gb and the other 4.41gb. Is there a way to fix these files? I've tried programs to convert them but that didn't work but maybe one of you know of a specific program that can fix them?

If you need MP4 for instance if you are using Vegas Pro then record to .mkv as Rich says and then use File, Remux Recordings to change the file to .mp4

Boy are you right about the mp4 files. Unfortunately I do not have Vegas Pro. The only Sony one I have is movie studio which spits it out with an error. Is there anything free that can fix a broken OBS mp4 file?
