Question / Help Broadcasting FPS drops to 12-30 from 60 FPS

When I'm not focused on OBS studio, the FPS drops to below 30 almost instantly - I can't for the life of my figure out what is wrong.

I can tab out of the game and the FPS of OBS will return to normal 60.
No dropped frames
Twitch inspector shows no issues with frames or connection
Which leads me to believe there is something wrong with OBS or my settings.

Can you guys help? It has worked flawlessly before...

In this video, at 3:55 you can see how laggy it is, I tab out and if you notice the text at the top left with my latest follower/subs, it speeds up (stops lagging) as I tab out.

Does anyone have an idea as to what this could be?

I've tried installing previous versions of OBS, but that doesn't change anything which leads me to believe that something is off in my system - but I can't figure out what it could be!
What would make OBS run at ridiculous FPS, even when not streaming or recording, just when a game is in focus?

I have the same problem.
I dont even need to start streaming, as soon as OBS is running and the game is the active window the FPS drop to 10-30.

Feels like a problem that began with either a windows or some kind of other update.

The only thing I remember updating was my graphics driver, but it was bad even before that.

Updated my drivers to the most recent - no dice, still drops to around 20 FPS when in-game (tapping out still instantly drives it back up to 60 fps)
Changed priority to 'high' on the processor and checked that all CPUs were active - no dice same as above.

Ok, I think I know what the issue is.
Apparently, from searching the web, OBS and SLI don't play nice - I have two GTX 770, and that may just be why..

Luckily it is my birthday today, and I'm getting a GTX 1070 GAMING X from MSI - hopefully that will fix things right up!

OBS can only capture frames from 1 GPU, so OBS get's only half of the frames with SLI

AFAIK OBS Studio game capture with multidisplay ticked should use SLI?

But yeah, it does seem like it is not being prioritized... Just odd that if I disable SLI it still doesn't work, frames drop to 20 when I enter any game... Disabling SLI should give me 'normal' fps

Except that disabling sli doesn't disable the part that cuts the available video card bandwidth in half.

Yes you can use multi-adapter compatibility to use SLI, but that comes with a performance hit.

Performance hit indeed... 40 fps drop is rather insane.. I figured that it would be BETTER if SLI was on, as the processing power is increased...

If I DON'T click the game window, but instead click OBS, the game runs as smooth in 60 fps as it should - which makes no sense.

Something is wrong here and it isn't in the SLI configuration but rather the code of OBS?

Ok, I've installed my new GPU - and still having the issue... BUT ... I've tried another game (that I don't usually stream) where I haven't installed Reshade 3.0.8 - and there it runs as smooth as ever!

The issue is, it seems, when I use Reshade in a game, the FPS in OBS drops like insane.
Going to post on the Reshade forum.
