Hi all, I just downloaded the software and have looked at lots of tutorials, but I can't figure out how to solve this problem. I used the wizard to get started, and did a test recording, but every time I hit start recording, I get a message that says an encoder error occurred while recording. I've tried a variety of tricks in the encoding forum but have had no luck. I'm very novice at understanding what the vocabulary is or how to show those with greater knowledge what type of CPU I have (I'm doing this on a work-supplied laptop. When I click on about, It says 11th gen intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @2.40GHz 2.42 GHz. Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7GB usable). 64-bit operating system, x 64-based processor. I have Windows 10. I clicked on performance on task manager and it says I have 4 cores and 8 logical processors (not sure if that info is meaningful in the context of solving this problem-sorry, as i said, very novice). I see some of that info in the log file. Thanks in advance for any help!

Try swapping to the x264 encoder, and see if the error persists. It's a CPU-based encode instead of GPU, so will increase your CPU load, but this is just for testing.

If it works, you may need to update your Intel video drivers. Older ones have issues with QSV, which is what your logfile indicates is erroring out.

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the QSV encoder; few people use it, the quality it produces isn't great, and it uses game-rendering resources for the encode so will degrade in-game performance. A discrete nVidia GPU is generally recommended these days, when possible... a GTX 1050 or better.

A quick check online turns up a comment that CPU is for ultra-light laptops.
- So CPU thermal throttling could be a real challenge... just depends
And adding a discreet GPU isn't really an option, so unless you plan to get a new computer, it will be all about optimizing your setup.
So make sure unnecessary background apps/processes/tasks (Operating System level) are NOT running
And I recommend trying 30fps vs 60.. just to get a stable baseline

Search in this forum for some previous discussions of encoder settings with Intel QuickSync (QSV)
