Question / Help Blurry...

Hey, I have a question, could "Minimize Network Impact" make an impact to the quality which means the stream will get blurrier, etc. Just got a better internet, still had a blurry stream on 2500kbps but now I turned it off and it feels more clear, but I'm not sure so I'm asking you guys. :)

You downscale 1080p to 720p, that's the main reason it gets blurry and one of the effects of downscaling. There are no integrated filters in OBS to make the image sharper (that would probably be too tasking to do in real time for most anyway).

yea but i've seen some 720p streams and they're not as blurry as mine :3

I mean there's no bluriness, it's like pixels showing up when I'm moving, for example, when playing minecraft. bitrate 2500 atm, still the pixels. one of my friends is streaming at 2200 and he gets way better quality as well as he's streaming at 45 fps and downscaling to 720p.. any solutions? got 5.5 mbit up

We would need to see example VODs from both you and your friend to compare the settings being used. Your settings in the log file look fine.

http://www.twitch.tv/krisongaming/b/572879950 is this considered good quality? i was wondering... changed cpu preset to faster, bitrate is still 25 hundred as well as i tried to change the server.. still one guy has a better quality streaming with 2200 bitrate, basically what I hate are the pixels when moving, because they're getting my facecam blurry too

That video of yours looks good enough for me. Minecraft is a hard game to make it look good on stream, no matter the bitrate/preset you use.

For 720p45 at 2500 Kbps it looks fine. The quality would improve a bit if you lowered the FPS to 30. You could also try adding tune=animation to the custom params section under Settings > Advanced.

tune=animation ... I've heard you recommending that to people streaming minecraft in the past. I saw 0 improvements using that tweak to be honest. What is it suppose to do?

It's for content that has larger areas of solid color like animation (and games like Minecraft). I use it on more pixellated source content like a lot of the games I run in DOSBox and some console emulators. Among other things it increases the number of reference frames and bframes used and tweaks x264's deblocking settings to help keep the solid color areas more solid and lines looking cleaner.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've tried looking into the x264 wiki site to look for some x264 tweaks and commands and learning what each of them do. But the explanation is always either to short, or to advanced.

Just another question. In what cases would tune-animation actually not be usefull? I mean, increasing deblocking by setting tune=animation seems like a good thing for all situations.
