Bug Report Blender 3D Causes Recording to Fail

I am looking to use OBS to record video tutorials for Blender.

Everything works fine, and I get an amazing framerate that I am unable to reproduce with any other video recording software... until I render something inside Blender.

If I begin rendering in Blender, the preview screen on OBS stops updating after a few seconds, freezing on a frame just as the render began. If I stop the recording, no matter how long after that it was actually recording, the recorded file ends just when I began rendering.
  • If I cancel the render, OBS does not resume recording.
  • If I begin recording while Blender is rendering, the same thing happens.
  • Clicking "Preview Stream" works fine, however, while rendering.
  • This occurs with Aero disabled and enabled.
  • This occurs in every screen recording mode.
  • This occurs even if the Blender window is not in the recording.
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit, 8 gigs of ram, laptop. I have an additional 1080p monitor connected.

I don't know if this will help, but here: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/ffe015e5c867e4a3745a

Hello Entity,

I'm also a Blender user and wanted to maybe shed some light on what could be occurring. I'm able to use OBS while running Blender just fine but have not attempted to record or stream while rendering. Depending on your settings in Blender, you could be using your GPU to render your project. If you're not using your GPU to render, you could be using enough of your CPU to render that OBS does not have sufficient resources to continue recording.

I would suggest checking your preferences in Blender and possibly monitoring your Windows Task Manager while rendering to see if there are any significant spikes. Also, check your Memory Cache Limit in Blender. If this is using most of your RAM while rendering, it could make it difficult for other programs such as OBS to run.

Like I said, I haven't tried rendering while recording video myself, but I hope this information is helpful for you. Enjoy and please send me a link to where I can see your Blender tutorials if you've already made some! :)
