Question / Help Blackscreen with elgato

I am trying to stream through OBS and capturing my elgato game capture hd. I used the game capture function on OBS and it was working, I had my Wii U footage on OBS, but then it went black. Now, I have set up a game capture to elgato but if I press F12 i get either nothing or strange white squares. I just don't get it. Ive tried it as a global source and a regular one. http://imgur.com/NfAPGrV

Don't try to capture the elgato software.

Use Video Capture Device to capture the elgato directly.

Because you're using 64-bit OBS.

Unless you specifically installed the 64-bit version of the elgato software, the drivers are 32-bit ONLY.

Thanks very much, that's fixed the problem of capture but now it is saying that "the device is in use by another application" when as far as i can tell it isn't.. Any help with that? :) thanks again

IF you meant restart, that didnt work i still get device in use. if you meant the elgato software completely closed, i still get black screen :(

Elgato software Closed. You getting "The device is in use by another application" in OBS is caused by the elgato software being open.

close the elgato software and leave it closed while using OBS. the scene can only be captured once so if you have elgato software open, it wont be able to get to OBS. Get it?

EDIT: restart OBS after you close the elgato software. reopen ONLY OBS. delete the game capture and make a video capture device source and point it to the elgato capture device.

Don't run the elgato software

at all

No signal on OBS means you don't have the device you're capturing hooked up.

Yes I am not running elgato anymore. sorry my last post was posted before i saw your responses i hadnt refreshed. I am not running elgato and i have a completely black screen on OBS with video capture device only
