Blackscreen issue with game capture

Hi. I'm having an issue where game capture is black. It worked fine last night. I understand this is a common issue but all guides and videos I ran into is how to fix it on a laptop and their suggested solution doesn't work/apply on a desktop pc. I have tried to uninstall both OBS and Streamlabs OBS. Neither picks up any game with capture mode. It does pick up my elgato capture card though. Window Capture works as well but I want to use game capture for various reasons. I have tried running as admin, set compatability mode to Win7 or 8. Multiple restarts of the PC but no dice. Any suggestions?

I resorted to restore a older restore point in Windows from 2 days ago. It works now. Not sure how to troubleshoot this in the future though, as I uninstalled and deleted any trace of OBS in appdata but maybe i missed something.
