okay, so i have set everything up. i had a friend of mine use team link to access my pc and he could not get OBS to stop streaming a black screen. we tried window, monitor, and game capture. I am trying to stream guild wars 2 and league of legends. i have tired both in all three scene captures. Once in a while it will work and than just go black. The camera feed and audio works fine.

You need to actually add a source to your scene. Right click the Sources box (it's the one to the right of your Scene you created earlier) and it will give you a bunch of options.

For LoL, here is what I recommend:
Make 2 Scenes
Scene 1 will be Window Capture, and play LoL in borderless windowed mode. Keep Aero enabled.
Scene 2 will be Monitor Capture
Use the Simple Scene Switcher plugin (found in the Plugins forum, in the Work In Progress section) and set it up to automatically switch scenes for you depending on if you are in a game or not.

This will give you the maximum performance possible while in game, and allow you to easily capture the client menu out of game with Monitor Capture (since performance doesn't matter for that).

As a side note, your hardware isn't really doing you any favors here. you have 40ms frame times without even any sources added. Generally anything over 20ms frame times is where you start to really wonder what's going wrong.

Also, you're going to have some serious performance issues. You are already overworking your system trying to encode a black screen, which is terrible. Your hardware is very underpowered...you will have to change your x264 preset to ultrafast, lower your frame rate, and heavily downscale your resolution to have any hope of being able to play a game and encode video at the same time.

It's highly unlikely you will ruin the hardware, you just will not have a great playing experience if you try to stream as well.
