Question / Help black screen

Black screen when i try to stream. But it's weird for the following reasons.

1) Window capture works (sort of). It only shows half of the screen. (the left 2/5ths roughly). If i move my window, then then it still appears as though the screen is on the left half of the preview. It will still only show the left most half. If i shrink the window below the maxium amount, the space left available will freak out (remember when windows 95 crashed and you could draw shapes with the box outlines? yea that. happens)
2) Monitor capture does not work at all.
3) game capture is able to capture my cursor, in both the in game and out of game variety, but only when i am actively clicking on the game. The game itself appears to be black.

Any idea what is going on?

Also this popped up in the log:

19:51:57: WARNING: Another hook is already present while trying to hook opengl32.dll, hook target is unknown. If you experience crashes, try disabling the other hooking application

After you follow the steps in the first link make sure you aren't running any other programs that could try to hook the game (Fraps, Dxtory, Shadowplay, any type of overlay, etc.).

I have this same problem and don't have any type of those programs installed. My friend also has that warning but is able to stream via game capture perfectly. So idk if OBS is trolling or not.

Sorry, I'm somewhat new at these kind of things. How would i go about finding and unhooking whatever is out-hooking my thing to be hooked?

Also, and i must stress i did nothing to change anything from before, games work now, but still not monitor capture.

I dont think monitor capture works with switchable graphics from a laptop. this is because when using desktop the intel GPU is used and would need to be selected in the video tab to display tab. The main issue with this is once you do the nvidia control panel fix for game capture for OBS, it will activate the nvidia GPU once OBS starts, but your desktop is still being sent to the Intel chip.

tl;dr its either:
1. Game capture works with the above fix with selecting adapter 1 (nvidia) in the OBS video tab
or
2. Monitor capture without the fix and adapter 2 (intel) selected in the video tab. Even with doing all that for monitor capture, I'm still not even sure if monitor capture will work.

lastly, monitor capture doesn't work well for OBS even with windows 8.1. so just stick with what you've got.
