After installing and configuring OBS all I got was a BLACK screen when recording.
My laptop is Win 7 x64 with integrated graphics (Intel) AND dedicated graphics GPU (Nvidia)
I did the following and it fixed the problem, now I am recording.
Step 1 - Change the compatibility mode

Step 2 - Modify the Nvidia 3D program settings

A caveat: I tried to right click on the executable shortcut in the programs file and selected "Run with graphics processor"/Intel and got a permissions error from windows. So I would suggest the longer method in Step 2 above.
