Question / Help Black screen when recording monitor

I'm not trying to stream or record any games, I'm trying to record TV shows on my PC. I'm using a Roxio Game Capture HD Pro capture card, and OBS to record the window showing the footage I want to record. But when I watch the footage I just recorded with OBS, the only thing that appears is this dark, dark purple, almost black screen. The sound is there, and if I move the mouse cursor over the region being recorded, it shows up on the footage. Please help!

And here is a picture of my setup and the screen:

And sorry if there's something wrong with the picture, it looks strange on my end. O.o

That "dark purple" is a hardware overlay, your video card is doing hardware acceleration so that color is replaced by the actual video. This of course makes capturing impossible since you're just capturing the color. This is also why your screenshot doesn't show any video.

To fix this, disable hardware acceleration or try toggling Aero. Generally only one hardware overlay will function at a time, so you could run a video player to 'use up' the overlay before running the Roxio software.
